Who's the most famous person I've worked with?

I get asked that question quite a lot.

Over the last decades Lynda and I have worked and toured with such well known artists as - James Taylor, Mark Knopfler, Johnnie Ray, Whoppie Goldberg, KC & The Sunshine Band and Demis Rousos. But no mention of famous names gets more of a reaction when I tell people I worked with Mr Squiggle.

Sorry to hear of the death of Squiggles creator Norman Hetherington this week.

 

Investigating the Investigators

Thrilled to get my third after dinner assignment with ASIC recently down in Melbourne.

These guys are a great bunch to work with,  with their diverse mix of people and skills.
Investigators, ex police, high level accountants and a whole lot more.

The mentalism and mind reading show was a mix of People Reading, Lie Detection and Amazing Memory skills and was a great hit.

They've just rebooked me for another session in Sydney later in the year.

 

Thought for the Week

A herd of buffalo can move only as fast as the slowest buffalo.

When the herd is hunted it is the slowest and the weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole herd keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.

 

In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells.
Excessive intake of alcohol, we all know, kills brain cells, but naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first.

 

In this way regular consumption of alcohol eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster  more efficient machine.

 

That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers.

Corporate Xmas Party Sydney 2009

November and December is always a busy time for me with End of Year Party's, Awards Nights, Gala Dinners.

Coming up in the next few weeks I have engagements for Panasonic, Snowy Mountains Engineering Corporation and ARICA (Australian Radio Communications Industry Association.)

Assignments include acting as MC for the events and/or performing my Mind Magic Show.These bookings are in both Sydney and Melbourne.

While most of these have been booked for months and we've had planning meetings / phone briefings, I'm still getting calls for assignments just a week away!

Some people are leaving things to the last minute. However there are still quite a few prime dates available on our calendar, so happy to help out if we can. Luncheon dates especially!

Australian Stand Up Comedy - Ric Carter

#2 in our Series on Australian Stand Up Comedians

Richard "Ric" Carter

Wow, you know your famous when they are going to be featured in a computer game! L.A. Noire is an eagerly awaited title from Team Bondi & Rockstar Games that should be available on all platforms in 2010.

We always knew Richard as Ric or "The King" and he was always a larger than life presence in the early days of The Comedy Store. Working and touring with Ric, which I did often, was almost inevitably an adventure.

He always had a parallel acting career which has blossomed over the last years, with appearances in such movie classics as - Rabbit Proof Fence, Murials Wedding, Babe 2, and TV series including Wildside. Once you recognise the voice, you'll hear him as Voice Over artist for VB amongst others.

Australian Comedy

I was watching a history of Australian Comedy on Television the other day and was amazed with how many of the Comedians I had actually worked with over the last few years. At Comedy clubs, Stand Up Venues, Corporate Events, Clubs, Cruises and private functions.

So, over the next few weeks ... here they are. (In no particular order)

Austen Tayshus

Actually my very first official paid Stand Up Comedy Spot was at the Kirribilli Pub Theatre Loony Bin, in June 1982. Austen Tayshus was the headliner. I've linked two of his early video clips, the smash hit Australiana and his follow up, the not so smash hit The Phantom Shuffle. Check out the dude in yellow shirt in the talent agency scene. That's me!
