That it's nearly the end of June and I've hardly posted anything.
The month started with a terrific After Dinner event for SunCorp. They had used us last year for a similar event so it was great to work with them again. The venue was the Italian Village down at the Rocks Sydney. I was dreading the load in as I knew it was up three steep flights of stairs, but the staff there went out of their way to help and even carried some of our gear up! The audience were also a great bunch as they were last year!
I was meant to travel up to Brisbane then for my quarterly meeting with my brains trust! Unfortunately I came down with some horrible bug and stayed in bed instead for a couple of days watching Magic Videos.
Couple of trips to Sydney the next week to deal with a few family matters. I must be getting old and grumpy as the traffic just drives me nuts every time I go in now.
A few nights in the Capertee Valley produced a few Regent Honeyeaters on our property which was a great thrill as always. We are getting ready to plant a second bunch of Hazelnut trees in the next month, taking our total to around 90 trees.
Then down to visit Fairfield City Council where I delivered a breakfast key note to their Leaders Forum.
What a terrific audience they were too! 120 managers from the very diverse community who seemed to respond very well to the messages and learning opportunities I provided.
Straight after the Forum I drove the 4 hours up to Shoal Bay at Port Stephens. I was facilitating a full day planning session for the Faculty of Education & Arts of Newcastle University. I think this is my 7th session for the University. Getting up there the night before also meant I was able to go out bowling with the team of 10. Not 10 pin bowling, but Lawn Bowling outside which was great fun.
I got back very late Friday night in time to "help" with the building of a new retaining wall. Well, I watched as the three burly blokes did the work. However they didn't use all the bricks they thought they needed and as Lynda had ordered an extra 500 as well, I had the pleasure of lugging and stacking nearly 800 down the side path the next day.
Another early start this week for a quick meeting up in Newcastle, this time with Student Services at the Uni to plan their retreat, and then a visit to old pal Greg Hudson to return a certain something we had borrowed from him some 12 years ago. We had used it "back in the day" to create this illusion for a visiting Japanese Camera crew from NHK Television. This shot was snapped during the filming, the actual film camera angle was much lower and closer. This waterfall is a 10 minute walk from our house.
