hassled PCO or Association Committee member.
“Timothy, the conference is next
month, can you be the MC?”
Now, that’s fine, a few weeks is more than enough time to do
a terrific job for most clients, but it shows up what I believe is the one big
mistake many event organisers make. They wait till the last minute to get the
MC involved.
And it’s not just the fact that your preferred MC may not be
available on the dates you require, but I believe you are missing out on a lot

Look at it this way. MC’s work in a wide range of different industries, venues and situations. We see many different speakers, entertainers & activities. We go to the networking functions and the off site events. We experience dealing with the Banquet staff, AV teams. And most MC’s that I know are perfectly happy to share this information and advice to our clients.
But if every things already locked in by the time you contact your MC, you loose this
advantage.
So, if you are planning an event, be it Conference, Convention or Awards Dinner, make the most of your MC by contacting them early and tapping into the inside knowledge they have.
