What is A Bird in the Hand?
During my 15 years in Wildlife rehabilitation, I raised many different birds, taking photos as a record of their development. I decided to put these together in an easy to use format for others to use as an identification tool.
When chicks come into care, it is often not known where they came from, or what the are. Often chicks don't resemble the parent bird, especially when they have no feathers.
Birdwatchers find the photos fascinating.. This was an opportunity to photograph birds that in some cases would be in an enclosed nest i.e. Thornbills, Kingfisher, Martins.
*
Some chicks aren't particularly attractive!
Some are drop dead gorgeous.
There are also short video clips showing behavior, and you can also hear the begging calls of some of the chicks.
I'm not going to tell you what the above birds are just yet, maybe you'd like to take a wild guess.
