I don't know what's going on around here, but it's wildlife central !!! It all started on Friday night.Timothy heard a Sugar Glider yipping outside the bathroom window, in a Banksia Pencillata - That's not unusual at this time of year. On Saturday night not long after going to bed while watching telly, I noticed something fly around the bed, too fast for a moth... a small bat was doing laps around us. It flew up the hall to the bathroom, came back and flew down the stairs. I opened all the upstairs windows, and went back to bed, we're assuming it found it's way out. -That's unusual....and today about a dozen Satin Bowerbirds were causing a ruckus high in a Banksia integrifolia.......by the time I grabbed the Binos, they had been joined by 4 Magpies, 2 Grey Butcherbirds, and a bunch of Sulphur-crested Cockatoos, all in full voice and not happy... They had found a Very large Diamond Python. Once they were satisfied that they had let every bird in the neighborhood know of their find they left. The Snake unfurled it self and moved down the trunk and along a small branch, for a bask. This is a big snake, we estimate 3 meters, within an hour it was back up the top curled up and having a rest..... Why do I get the feeling that Sugar Glider might be on the menu.
The photo below shows the Python basking. Half it's body is along the branch and the other half is at right angle up the trunk. Click on the image for a larger view

I remember one time last year there was an almighty ruckus about a tree across the road from the house in the paddock. Every bird in the neighbourhood was arriving swooping around it, making a fuss and screeching. I didn't have to see to know what was in it...
